Rati Ionatamishvili, the Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights Protection and Civil Integration, claimed on Wednesday that the devaluation of European values had originated within Europe itself, arguing that removing Eurocrats from decision-making positions was the only way to prevent further reputational damage.
Speaking to Imedi TV, Ionatamishvili said the crisis within the European Union would continue to deepen as long as Euro-bureaucrats made decisions based on their own interests rather than those of the public.
“The devaluation of European values originated within Europe itself. Issues such as migration policy, foreign policy, unfair approaches, double standards, and corruption scandals were all caused by Euro-bureaucrats. This has created a situation in which unelected, unscrupulous individuals place their own bureaucratic interests above the interests of the population. There is only one solution to this: these Euro-bureaucrats must be removed from decision-making roles. Otherwise, unfortunately, the reputational damage will only deepen, which is harmful for everyone”, Ionatamishvili said.
“We support the principle that any responsible individual, whether leading their own country or representing an international institution, must put the interests of the people first and serve the public. That is what matters most. When you lose sight of the people's interests and instead align yourself with propagandistic or bureaucratic agendas, shaping your own agenda around them, isolation becomes the inevitable outcome. That is precisely why figures such as Ms. [Kaja] Kallas and others find themselves isolated in international politics”, he added.
