Davit Matikashvili, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Committee on Procedural Issues and Rules, on Wednesday said the radical opposition had been reduced to “zero” in terms of public support in Georgia.
Matikashvili was commenting on the latest poll conducted by the International Republican Institute (IRI).
“The radical opposition has been reduced to zero in terms of public support in our country. We have spoken about this on numerous occasions. Radicalism, anti-Georgian actions, and active participation in processes that do not serve national interests are met with negativity and antagonism from our society. It is crystal clear that Georgian Dream enjoys strong public support and high approval ratings”, Matikashvili said.
According to the IRI poll, the United National Movement has five percent support, while the ruling Georgian Dream party stands at 36 percent. The survey also found that eight opposition parties collectively command 16 percent support.
