Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić on Thursday discussed expanding bilateral trade and ongoing negotiations on a free trade agreement during a meeting on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
During the meeting, the sides highlighted the friendly ties between Georgia and Serbia and the positive dynamics in cooperation across various fields.
They expressed hope that the Serbian Embassy in Georgia would open in the near future, further contributing to the deepening of bilateral relations.
The sides also discussed the growing trend in bilateral trade and noted that signing a free trade agreement would constitute an important step in further expanding economic cooperation. Negotiations on the agreement are reportedly nearing completion. Georgia and Serbia have been negotiating a free trade agreement, with both sides previously emphasising its potential to strengthen economic ties.
Kobakhidze thanked Vučić for his support for Georgia’s European aspirations and underscored the importance of relations based on mutual respect.
