Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said the dividends of peace and economic growth of Georgia should know no artificial boundaries and should also reach people living in the country’s occupied historic regions, whom he described as part of Georgia’s shared future.
In his speech at the United Nations General Assembly, Kobakhidze noted that the challenges facing Georgia also reminded the country that national stability and success could not be separated from the wider regional context.
“We believe that the dividends of peace and economic growth of Georgia should know no artificial boundaries. It must reach the people living in our occupied historic regions as well - who remain, and will always remain, part of our shared future”, Kobakhidze said.
“We have shared a homeland and a history for centuries”, he continued.
Kobakhidze emphasised that the divisions of today couldn’t erase that history, nor should they determine the future of our children.
“We believe that the dividends of peace and economic growth of Georgia should know no artificial boundaries. It must reach the people living in our occupied historic regions as well - who remain, and will always remain, part of our shared future”, he concluded.
