Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday introduced newly appointed Culture Minister Maia Bitadze to the leadership and staff of the Ministry of Culture, highlighting the Government’s strategic commitment to advancing institutional development across the cultural sector.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze described culture as one of the Government’s top priorities and expressed confidence that Bitadze would lead the ministry effectively while contributing to the development of Georgian culture in various fields.
“It was important and principled for us to appoint a person with strong managerial experience to lead the Ministry of Culture. Culture is one of our highest priorities, and we aim to bring about fundamental changes in the sector over the coming years. There are numerous challenges across different areas of culture, many of which are linked to broader global developments. We believe significant progress can be achieved in many directions. Every field of Georgian culture is a priority for us, and we are confident that Ms. Maia will lead the Ministry of Culture with great dedication”, Kobakhidze said.
Bitadze thanked the Prime Minister for the trust placed in her and acknowledged the responsibility that comes with leading the ministry.
“I fully understand the magnitude of the responsibility entrusted to me, and I sincerely hope that, through our joint efforts, we will meet the expectations outlined by the Prime Minister”, she said.
The newly appointed minister noted that she brings extensive experience from public service and other professional fields, despite not having previously worked directly in the cultural sector.
“As you know, I have many years of experience in public service and other areas. Although my professional career has not been directly connected to culture, I hope that very soon we will begin implementing, in a precise and structured manner, the key priorities and tasks already set out by the Government of Georgia”, Bitadze noted.
