Imedi TV has sent another letter to the United States Embassy, this time requesting a response regarding what it described as an anti-American campaign conducted by the opposition-leaning Formula TV channel.
Formula TV has turned the administration of US President Donald Trump and the President himself into targets of criticism and ridicule, accusing them of voter bribery and mocking their policies.
In its letter to the Embassy, Imedi claimed that Formula, a television channel founded by imprisoned former President Mikheil Saakashvili, opposition politician Nika Gvaramia and former Defence Minister Davit Kezerashvili, was engaged in anti-American propaganda.
“Formula TV, founded by Mikheil Saakashvili, Nika Gvaramia and Davit Kezerashvili, is engaged in anti-American propaganda. Do you intend to state your position regarding the ongoing political and verbal attacks by Formula TV against President Trump and his team?” the letter sent by Imedi said.
Anti-American narratives continue to circulate across media outlets affiliated with the Georgian radical opposition and imprisoned former President Mikheil Saakashvili.
During a broadcast on the opposition-leaning TV station Formula, host Nino Zhizhilashvili and guest Giga Jokhadze, a researcher at the Chavchavadze Center, targeted the current US administration and President Donald Trump personally with open attacks, mockery, and criticism.
