Nino Tsilosani, Vice Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, on Thursday said that bureaucrats who have displayed particular hostility toward Georgia are now moving toward imposing various restrictions on freedom.
Tsilosani was commenting on remarks by European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, who said that “countries aspiring to join the European Union must sever their ties with Donald Trump’s MAGA movement in order to become members of the organisation”.
“It appears that they are seeking to prevent all candidate countries from supporting ideologies and organisations that differ from their own, as well as from participating in such organisations. Marta Kos’s statements continue to surprise us more and more each time”, Tsilosani said.
“However, this particular statement has probably done more than any of her previous remarks to shed light on the type of compliant members the EU bureaucracy apparently seeks to admit. Marta Kos’s comments clearly demonstrate this”, she concluded.
