Tornike Paghava, the Deputy Chair of the Committee on European Integration of the Georgian Parliament, on Tuesday sharply criticised opposition groups and non-governmental organisations, describing them as “international informants and international fraudsters”.
Commenting on a letter by Levan Machavariani, the First Deputy Chair of the parliamentary faction of the ruling Georgian Dream party, Paghava linked the group’s activities to broader efforts against Georgian sovereignty and noted the declining influence of privileged NGOs as part of an international trend.
“This radical political group has turned into international informants and international fraudsters”, he said.
“Privileged NGOs are losing their power, and this is not merely a Georgian phenomenon. It is an international trend. This is a very important process for Georgia because these people have always deliberately and purposefully fought against Georgian sovereignty”,Paghava concluded.
Levan Machavariani, the First Deputy Chair of the parliamentary faction of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Tuesday accused opposition parties, non-governmental organisations, and affiliated activists of acting against Georgia’s national interests and attempting to destabilise the country.
In a social media message, Machavariani criticised what he described as the “proxy opposition”, wealthy NGOs, and “ultra-left, pseudo-liberal activists”, claiming they had been behind a series of political campaigns and crises in recent years.
