Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Monday said there is no opposition in Georgia, but rather individuals who are part of an “agent network” operating inside the country and receiving instructions from foreign patrons.
Kaladze made the remarks in response to a question about the ongoing confrontation among opposition figures.
“There is, in reality, no opposition. There are specific individuals who are representatives of an agent network inside the country. They have people who give them instructions - foreign patrons. Accordingly, the process that is taking place - conflicts and insulting statements against one another - is something I cannot imagine happening any other way”, he said.
He further added that the opposition figures “have no values” and are primarily focused on determining which of them will become the main opposition party.
“Most importantly, these are rootless people, representatives of an agent network, and through their actions they have always opposed and continue to oppose the interests of the Georgian state and the Georgian people”, Kaladze concluded.
