Giorgi Kalandarishvili, Chair of Georgia’s Central Election Commission (CEC), who is currently observing Kazakhstan’s parliamentary elections, said on Sunday that the voting process has been orderly, well-administered, and marked by a high level of voter awareness, with services provided to voters at a notably high standard.
In an interview with Imedi TV, Kalandarishvili said the quality of election administration he had observed so far had been positive.
He further noted that the observers had visited several polling stations and assessed various aspects of the election administration process.
“Observing several polling stations, as well as the fact that, due to our mandate, we did not have the opportunity to observe various components during the pre-election period, naturally does not allow us to assess the process as a whole. However, with regard to the quality of election administration, our assessments are indeed positive”, Kalandarishvili concluded.
Kazakhstan is holding parliamentary elections to elect 145 members of the country’s unicameral parliament.
The elections are the first nationwide parliamentary elections to be held under Kazakhstan’s new Constitution. Voting is taking place at more than 10,000 polling stations across the country and abroad.
