Irakli Kadagishvili, Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Regional Policy and Self-Government Committee, said on Tuesday that Georgia is a country and state that seeks to be part of Christian European civilisation and follow that path, adding that King Erekle II’s signing of the Treaty of Georgievsk played a major role in shaping this orientation.
In his remarks, Kadagishvili stressed that modern Georgia, as a country, state and society, aspires to belong to Christian European civilisation.
“Today, Georgia is the kind of country, the kind of state, and the kind of society that wants to be part of Christian European civilisation and follow this path. The decision [by King Erekle II to sign the Treaty of Georgievsk] played a major role in the fact that Georgia today is a country of European civilisation”, Kadagishvili said.
