Irakli Kheladze, a member of the parliamentary majority, on Thursday accused representatives of Saakashvili’s “bloody regime, who are now organised into various political parties”, of deliberately opposing efforts to stabilise and normalise relations with Abkhazians and Ossetians.
Speaking to journalists, Kheladze commented on reports that a business had delivered several fuel tankers to Abkhazia in compliance with Georgia’s Law on Occupied Territories. Following the publication of the information, opposition representatives issued a series of critical statements on social media.
Kheladze noted that the fuel was intended for medical facilities and was meant to ensure electricity generation for seriously and critically ill patients.
He criticised opposition claims that the fuel could be used by Russian military forces, describing such allegations as a deliberate act against Georgia’s interests.
“They portrayed it as if all of this was intended to serve Russian military forces. This is a deliberate act of hostility toward one’s own country. If anyone is opposed today to stabilizing and normalizing the situation with Abkhazians and Ossetians, first and foremost it is the representatives of Saakashvili’s bloody regime, who are now organised into various political parties”, Kheladze said.
