Eighteen years after the August 2008 war, the difficult days remain deeply and emotionally etched in the memory of the Georgian people, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists.
Kobakhidze said honoring the memory of those who lost their lives in the war is a national duty, while their patriotism should serve as an example for future generations.
“Eighteen years have passed since the August war, yet we all still remember those extremely difficult days, including emotionally. It is our duty to honor the memory of the heroes who died in the August war”, Kobakhidze said.
He stressed that the patriotism demonstrated by the fallen soldiers should remain a guiding example for future generations.
“Their example should guide generations to come. Their patriotism is exemplary, and, of course, we have a duty to these heroes to do everything possible to restore Georgia’s territorial integrity through peaceful means and fulfill their dream”, the Prime Minister concluded.
