The Georgian state flag was flown at half-mast at the Government Administration building on Saturday to honour those who lost their lives in the 2008 Russia-Georgia war, marking the 18th anniversary of the conflict.
Under a government order signed by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, state flags have been flown at half-mast at administrative buildings across Georgia in memory of those killed as a result of Russia’s large-scale military intervention in Georgia, which the government says was aimed at the illegal occupation of the Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions.
The measure applies to administrative buildings throughout the country and serves as a tribute to the victims of the August 2008 war.
