Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday said Nauru’s decision to terminate diplomatic relations with the so-called Republic of Abkhazia and the so-called Republic of South Ossetia once again confirms that respect for and adherence to international law are the foundation of healthy international relations.
“On July 21, the Government of the Republic of Nauru made a decision to terminate diplomatic relations with the so-called Republic of Abkhazia and the so-called Republic of South Ossetia”, he said.
“This decision once again confirms that respect for and adherence to international legal norms are the foundation of healthy international relations. Georgia is ready to establish diplomatic relations with the Republic of Nauru and contribute to deepening cooperation”, Kobakhidze continued.
The Prime Minister further expressed gratitude to Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili and all diplomats involved in implementing Georgia’s non-recognition policy.
“I would like to thank the Foreign Minister, Ms Maka Botchorishvili, and every diplomat working to successfully implement the non-recognition policy”, Kobakhidze concluded.
