Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday highlighted the particular importance of Georgia’s relations with Central Asian countries in advancing regional connectivity and strengthening transport links.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze noted that his government would make every effort to further deepen political, trade, and economic relations with the countries of Central Asia.
“In terms of foreign policy, the past two months have been particularly active for the Georgian government. We have been especially focused on strengthening ties with Central Asian countries. During this period, high-level visits were made to three Central Asian states - Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. In addition, Georgia hosted visits by the presidents of two Central Asian countries - Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. Most importantly, we signed strategic partnership agreements with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan”, the PM said.
“Of course, these agreements, as well as our overall cooperation with Central Asian countries, carry particular political and economic significance. Georgia connects seven countries with the Black Sea and, consequently, with the Western space. Therefore, our relations with Central Asian countries are of special importance for the further development of connectivity. Going forward, the government will do everything possible to further deepen both political ties and trade and economic relations with the countries of Central Asia”, he concluded.
