Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Tuesday commented on the establishment of a new political party by Victor Kipiani, the head of the analytical organisation GeoCase, saying that foreign representatives will not be allowed to influence or conduct political activity within Georgia.
In his remarks, Kaladze described Kipiani as an example of an “agent network” in Georgia, claiming that its members receive instructions from abroad.
“This individual is a very good example of how people have served the Deep State through their past activities. Nothing is hidden, everything is clear. The Georgian authorities will continue to pursue policies that primarily protect the interests of our state and the Georgian people. This is the reality, and it is the policy that Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia will continue to implement through its actions”, he noted.
The Mayor further argued that the time had passed when representatives of foreign countries made decisions on behalf of the Georgian people.
“Elections are held fairly in Georgia, and every political subject has the opportunity to conduct its election campaign. At the same time, agents will continue to face restrictions. Representatives of other countries will not be able to engage in politics within our country. They should get used to that because those times are over. Likewise, the era when statements by certain foreign representatives or politicians on various issues were accepted as absolute truth has also come to an end. Forget about it”, Kaladze said.
Asked whether the newly established party should be regarded as a political force to be reckoned with, Kaladze replied that it was clear who financed its members and whose instructions they followed.
“We have representatives of an agent network in this country who are directed by external forces. They have foreign patrons, receive instructions and act accordingly. Everything is clear. We all know very well who is financed by whom and whose instructions they carry out”, he concluded.
