Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday said he does not understand a recent statement issued by the US Embassy, arguing that under the previous US administration the Embassy was among the actors that sought to artificially fuel hatred in Georgia.
Speaking to journalists, Kobakhidze said his government remains committed to restoring its strategic partnership with the United States and will patiently wait for a reciprocal position from the American side.
“The US Embassy’s statement is absolutely incomprehensible to me, especially given that under the previous administration it was one of the main actors trying to artificially fuel hatred and spread falsehoods in Georgia. Therefore, I find this statement difficult to understand. However, that is their matter”, he said.
“We must do everything to ensure that hatred does not spread within Georgian society. As for Georgian-American relations, we remain in a waiting mode and continue to be optimistic. Our desire is to restore the strategic partnership, and we will patiently await a reciprocal position from the American side”, Kobakhidze concluded.
