Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Saturday emphasised that robust anti-corruption efforts constitute an integral pillar of national security during his address at the 11th-anniversary celebration of the State Security Service.
In his address, Kobakhidze noted that significant steps have been taken in combating terrorism and ensuring national security.
“The most important steps have been taken in the fight against terrorism. As a result of preventive measures, we have averted a number of threats”, he said.
The Prime Minister emphasised that the fight against corruption is directly connected with national security, adding that Georgian society could already see the results of ongoing efforts in this direction.
“Our society sees the results of active work in this direction every day. In the future, too, we will be uncompromising towards any form of corruption offence and everyone will be held strictly accountable before the law”, Kobakhidze noted.
He also underlined the importance of the role played by employees of the State Security Service, noting that improving their working conditions, increasing salaries and strengthening social guarantees remain among the government’s priorities.
“In all these achievements, the role of the employees of the State Security Service is special, and their proper appreciation is one of the main priorities of the Government of Georgia. We have significantly improved working conditions, increased remuneration and strengthened social protection guarantees in the service, and we will continue to take care of this in the future as well”, he stressed.
Kobakhidze thanked the Head of the State Security Service, Geka Geladze, as well as the leadership and employees of the agency, for their service and contribution to protecting the country’s security.
“I thank the Head of the State Security Service, Mr. Geka Geladze, the leadership of the Service and every employee. Your patriotism, dignity and professionalism ensure a safe future for our children. Once again, I congratulate you on your professional day and, on behalf of the Government of Georgia, declare our full support to you!” he concluded.
