Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili on Thursday said the lack of a “healthy opposition” was slowing political progress in the country and urged opposition supporters to evaluate political developments objectively, based on facts and long-term developments.
In his interview with Imedi TV, Kavelashvili noted that it would be beneficial if the opposition's remaining supporters were able to assess the facts objectively.
“No one is asking them to become supporters of the government, but they should be able to assess reality. To do that, they need to look at developments more deeply rather than living from one day to the next. They should look back at who stood for what, who said what, and whose messages ultimately proved to be correct. I am not talking about facts I have invented. I am referring to actual developments and to the assessments made by the leaders of various countries and the heads of international organisations”, Kavelashvili said.
