Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili on Thursday said that Azerbaijan, Türkiye, the countries of Central Asia and even China had acknowledged Georgia’s role in the region.
In his interview with Imedi TV, Kavelashvili noted that Georgia, as an independent state, was able to make decisions based on its national interests while maintaining relations founded on mutual respect.
“Today, we are an independent country, capable of making decisions based on our national interests, while building relations on mutual respect. I have also visited Iran, and since the restoration of our independence, that country has always maintained a constructive approach toward Georgia and recognises our territorial integrity”, he said.
“Azerbaijan, Türkiye and the countries of Central Asia speak about Georgia’s role. It may come as a surprise, but China also speaks about it. When countries engage with you as an equal, it means you are a dignified state. Such an attitude toward Georgia is exemplary”, Kavelashvili concluded.
