There is an orchestrated effort to artificially impose hatred on Georgia from abroad, with specific agents carrying out that agenda, and the Government will oppose both the effort and those involved in implementing it, said on Thursday Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
Kobakhidze responded to a question about statements by Lithuanian MEP Rasa Juknevičienė and several other lawmakers regarding the detention of journalist Vakho Sanaia.
“Such comments are of no interest whatsoever. Let us simply look at the facts. There is an individual who grossly violated the law and seriously insulted specific people. Comments like these are entirely inappropriate and carry no weight. It is also noteworthy that these are the same people - and here I am not referring to foreigners - who just a few days ago openly justified blatant aggression against a particular woman. They not only justified it but even praised an act of aggression that involved severe physical abuse. This clearly demonstrates the existence of double standards and the reason behind them”, he said.
“The agenda is very simple: hatred is being artificially imposed on Georgia from abroad, and certain agents are carrying out this task. We will oppose this agenda in every possible way, as well as everyone engaged in implementing such instructions”, Kobakhidze concluded.
