Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday expressed hope that recent diplomatic developments would help reset relations between Georgia and Germany, emphasising that Germany has long been one of Georgia’s most important partners.
In his remarks, the Prime Minister noted that Georgia highly values Germany’s support since the 1990s and is particularly interested in restoring positive momentum in bilateral ties.
“The former Ambassador made a very negative contribution to Georgian-German relations. Germany has traditionally been one of Georgia’s most important partners since the 1990s and has made a significant contribution to our country’s development. We want to return our relations to a positive trajectory. Germany has appointed a new Ambassador to Georgia, and our Ambassador to Germany has presented his credentials to the German President. We hope these steps will contribute to resetting our bilateral relations, which is of great importance to us”, he said.
“We are grateful for the support Germany has provided to Georgia since the 1990s, and that is why we are particularly interested in renewing these relations”, Kobakhidze concluded.
