Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Saturday said it was very important that US President Donald Trump responded positively to his message on the occasion of US Independence Day, expressing optimism that such gestures support Georgia’s desire to reset relations and restore the strategic partnership from a clean slate with a concrete roadmap.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze emphasised the significance of the letter from Trump and reiterated Georgia’s readiness to rebuild bilateral ties on a new, constructive foundation.
“It is very important for us that the US President responded to my visit to the US Embassy on the occasion of US Independence Day with such a positive letter. Our desire is to completely reset our relations, restore the strategic partnership, and do all of this from a clean slate, with a concrete roadmap”, Kobakhidze said.
“Such messages keep us optimistic that relations may be reset soon. This is our desire, and we are patiently waiting for a firm position from the American side on this matter”, he concluded.
The United States President Donald Trump on Friday thanked Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze for a message marking the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States, expressing hope for stronger cooperation between the two countries in support of sovereignty, security, prosperity, and peace.
