The Law Enforcement Tactical Team of the Coast Guard Department of Georgia's Border Police has participated for the fifth time in NATO's maritime security operation Operation Sea Guardian, according to the Border Police.
As part of the operation, 12 members of the Georgian Coast Guard's boarding team were deployed aboard the Hellenic Navy frigate HS Nikiforos Fokas (F 466).
Together with members of the Greek Special Forces, they took part in joint training exercises, including Close Quarters Battle (CQB) and live-fire tactical drills.
The Georgian personnel also conducted search-and-rescue and evacuation exercises alongside the frigate's crew.
Operation Sea Guardian is currently NATO's only standing maritime security operation.
Its primary objectives include countering terrorism at sea, ensuring freedom and security of maritime navigation, enhancing maritime security capabilities, and improving maritime situational awareness within the operational area. The operation also facilitates information sharing and cooperation with Allied and partner nations.
