Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili and Vietnamese Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan on Tuesday discussed the development of bilateral relations between the two nations.
The talks focused on deepening high-level political dialogue and expanding cooperation in trade and economic relations, transport, investment, tourism, education, culture, and technology.
Kavelashvili congratulated Vo Thi Anh Xuan on her re-election as Vice President and highlighted the importance of her visit in creating new opportunities to strengthen ties between the two countries.
The officials also discussed Georgia’s transit and logistics potential, prospects for developing the Middle Corridor, and the country’s role in transport routes connecting Europe and Asia.
The sides considered the possibility of establishing direct air links, noting that such an arrangement would help boost tourism, strengthen business ties, and promote people-to-people contacts.
Innovation, information and communication technologies, artificial intelligence, science, and research were also identified as key areas for cooperation. The officials further emphasised the importance of establishing direct links between universities and expanding academic cooperation.
Kavelashvili thanked the Vietnamese side for its support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Georgian side also welcomed the prospect of opening a Georgian embassy in Vietnam and expressed hope that Vietnam would establish a resident embassy in Georgia in the future.
