Georgian Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Wednesday said that both Georgia and Singapore were interested in further developing bilateral cooperation, noting that stronger ties between the two countries would also promote regional cooperation and partnership.
Botchorishvili said discussions with the country's leadership focused on expanding political and economic relations.
“Today, the Prime Minister held meetings with the Prime Minister and the President of Singapore. During the meetings with the country's leadership, we discussed opportunities to deepen political and economic ties. Both countries have an interest in developing cooperation between our nations, which will naturally contribute to greater regional cooperation and partnership. This is important both for Singapore and for Georgia, as well as for Georgia's positioning in the South Caucasus and the wider region”, Botchorishvili noted.
She added that there was significant potential to deepen the partnership between Georgia and Singapore, including by strengthening business-to-business ties.
“We also discussed the international cooperation agenda, collaboration between Singapore and Georgia within international organisations, the potential for expanding our partnership, as well as opportunities to strengthen business and economic ties. There is clear potential to further enhance relations between our two countries, and, of course, we need to take the necessary steps to fully utilise that potential. Strengthening business ties is essential for this. This visit will serve that purpose, and meetings with representatives of the business community are also scheduled”, the Minister concluded.
