Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić on Wednesday highlighted the importance of strengthening relations between Serbia and Georgia, saying he had learned a great deal from Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and President Mikheil Kavelashvili.
Speaking in Serbia, where the First Founding Conference of Speakers of Parliament of EU Candidate Countries is being held, Vučić highlighted the value of closer cooperation between Georgia and Serbia.
“I am very pleased to meet Shalva Papuashvili again just 10–15 days after our previous meeting. I learned a great deal from him, as well as from Prime Minister Kobakhidze and President Kavelashvili during my visit to Georgia. I believe it is important to strengthen these ties and the good relations between our countries. This is beneficial on the bilateral level, but it is also important for strengthening connections between the Western Balkans, the Caucasus region and all other regions aspiring to join the European Union”, he said.
Vučić said citizens were more concerned with their daily lives than with bureaucratic procedures.
“Our citizens are not interested in bureaucratic formalities. They care about their lives and the future of their children. That is what matters to people, and that is why I believe it is extremely important for us to join forces in order to achieve our goals”, Vučić noted.
