Kazakh Prime Minister Oljas Bektenov on Tuesday praised Georgia’s expanding role as a regional transport and logistics hub, highlighting trade and investment cooperation as key pillars of the bilateral relationship.
Speaking at a meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Bektenov said Kazakhstan viewed Georgia as a reliable friend and a key strategic partner in the South Caucasus.
“We highly value Georgia’s growing role as a regional transport and logistics hub connecting Central Asia, the South Caucasus, the Black Sea region and Europe. Trade and investment cooperation remains one of the most important areas of our bilateral agenda”, Bektenov said.
He noted that bilateral trade reached $53 million in the first four months of the year, underscoring the strong potential of the two countries’ economic partnership.
According to Bektenov, Kazakh investment in Georgia has exceeded $570 million over the past two decades, while more than 600 companies with Georgian participation are currently operating in Kazakhstan.
The Kazakh Prime Minister proposed that the two countries’ intergovernmental commission develop concrete proposals for launching new joint projects and expanding industrial cooperation, particularly in food processing, petrochemicals, transport services, manufacturing, construction materials, and logistics.
“The Government of Kazakhstan is ready to further deepen dialogue and practical cooperation with the Government of Georgia”, Bektenov concluded.
