Bidzina Ivanishvili thanks supporters after election victory

Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder and Honorary Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Saturday addressed supporters gathered at the party’s headquarters, extending gratitude to voters and the Georgian public for what he described as a moment of national renewal.

In his address, Ivanishvili called the election outcome a well-deserved success for the nation.

“The victory is truly impressive. Congratulations and of course, I would like to extend my gratitude to you and all our voters, to the Georgian public in general, who managed to do it and finally won. This is the real outcome. This is what Georgia deserves, what our history deserves, what our genetics deserve. With this, we have already paid tribute to our ancestors”, Ivanishvili said.

“We are an exceptionally talented nation. At some point, under certain circumstances, we lost our way, but we are gathering strength again and will surely take our rightful, dignified place globally”, he concluded.

Preliminary results from exit polls conducted for Georgia’s local self-government elections have been released. According to the survey, the ruling Georgian Dream party received the highest share of votes in the capital city of Tbilisi.
