András László, a Hungarian member of the European Parliament, who is monitoring the ongoing local self-government elections in Georgia, on Saturday highlighted the quality and standards of integrity of the electoral process at polling stations.
In his remarks, László hoped that the election process would continue in a peaceful environment.
“I visited several polling stations in Georgia to observe the voting. The quality and standards of integrity in the electoral process are high everywhere. The staff are fully prepared. Local observers were present at all polling stations we visited. We have not heard of any provocations at any polling station. We hope this will continue until the end of the day - that the electoral process will remain peaceful, and new mayors and local representatives will receive their mandates and work in accordance with the democratically expressed choice of the Georgian people”, László said.
The election process is being monitored by observers from 28 international and 27 local organisations, as well as around 1,000 representatives from 73 media outlets covering the event.
