Luis Jesús Uribe-Etxebarria Apalategui, a member of the Spanish Senate, who is monitoring the ongoing local elections in Georgia, on Saturday commended the smooth and democratic conduct of the voting process at polling stations.
In his remarks, Uribe-Etxebarria Apalategui noted that the polling station has opened and the voting process is proceeding successfully, with citizens exercising their right to come and cast their ballots
“I sincerely hope this process will continue in such a democratic manner. Georgia continues to engage in electoral processes in a free, safe, competitive, and transparent way, in line with international standards”, he concluded.
Local self-government elections are taking place in Georgia, with citizens voting to elect municipal council members and mayors for a four-year term.
Georgians are casting their ballots to select representatives to 64 local councils (Sakrebulo) and 64 mayors across the country.
