Levan Makhashvili, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Committee on European Integration, on Tuesday said the results of the recent public opinion poll by Georgian Opinion Research Business International (GORBI) was accurately reflecting the real voice, aspirations, and expectations of Georgian society regarding politics.
A new nationwide public opinion poll commissioned by Imedi TV and conducted by research company Georgian Opinion Research Business International (GORBI) indicated that the ruling Georgian Dream party held a commanding lead ahead of the upcoming local self-government elections scheduled for Saturday.
“This is a clear message to the Government to continue its policy of peace, prosperity, and development. At the same time, it is a direct response to the opposition, showing that any attempt - or even illusion - of revolutionary change in Georgia would be fruitless”, the Parliament official said.
He further expressed hope that these results, and potentially even stronger ones, would be reflected in the upcoming local self-government elections.
Makhashvili added that this would help put an end to “revolutionary politics” in the country and instead give space to “pragmatic parties and pragmatic politics, those political forces that genuinely care about the future of Georgia”.
