Tamar Ioseliani, Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, said on Thursday that the country’s economic growth was being driven by a stable environment, macroeconomic stability and ongoing economic diversification, adding that key economic indicators were showing strong growth and the overall trend remained positive.
In an interview with Imedi TV, Ioseliani said economic growth currently stood at 7.6%.
“Several sectors should be highlighted as drivers of this growth, including industry, warehousing and transport. The transport and logistics sector is an important factor contributing to this economic growth and plays its own role in this regard”, Ioseliani said.
According to her, the transport and logistics sector accounts for approximately 6% of GDP.
“I would also highlight the first half of 2026, when we recorded 19% growth, which is a positive trend in this direction. This is why the government’s policy in the transport and logistics sector, as well as the projects we are implementing, are important for strengthening our role along the Middle Corridor and enabling us to play an appropriate role in transportation between Asia and Europe”, Ioseliani noted.
