Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday highlighted record figures in the transport and logistics sectors, attributing the growth in part to reforms and changes implemented by the Government.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze noted that the total volume of cargo handled at seaports and terminals reached 15.4 million tonnes, representing a 24% increase.
He also underlined that rail freight volume stood at 11 million tonnes, marking a 13% increase.
“Overall, in the transport and logistics sector, we are seeing record figures, which are partly the result of the changes that have been implemented. The total volume of cargo handled at seaports and terminals reached 15.4 million tonnes, representing a 24% increase. Rail freight volume stands at 11 million tonnes, an increase of 13%”, Kobakhidze said.
“In the road transport sector, the figure stands at 11.8 million tonnes, marking a 3% increase. The volume of cargo handled by international airports amounts to 33,600 tonnes, an increase of 30%. We are witnessing substantial growth across all sectors”, he concluded.
