Georgian Deputy Economy Minister Vakhtang Tsintsadze on Monday said that Georgia is one of the global leaders in terms of economic growth, stressing that the government’s goal was to maintain this position in the coming years.
In his remarks, Tsintsadze noted that Georgia’s economic growth was well diversified, with significant positive contributions coming from manufacturing, information and communications, transport and storage, energy and other sectors.
He said Georgia’s economy grew by 8% in July, while the average economic growth rate for January-July stood at 7.9%.
“Positive trends in foreign trade also contributed to economic growth. We have record figures in terms of both exports and domestic exports. It is noteworthy that based on the first seven months of the year, Georgia is one of the global leaders in terms of economic growth, and our goal is to maintain this leadership in economic growth in the coming years”, Tsintsadze said.
The Deputy Minister said the Georgian Government had “quite ambitious plans”, adding that economic reforms were being implemented with the aim of increasing productivity, while infrastructure projects were entering an accelerated phase of development.
“These measures will ultimately have a stimulating effect on economic growth”, Tsintsadze said.
