Georgian Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili said on Thursday that the new operating model for the Anaklia Deep Sea Port would ensure the facility remains under Georgian ownership while allowing multiple international partners to participate in its operations.
Speaking about the development of Georgia’s transport sector, Kvrivishvili highlighted the Anaklia Deep Sea Port project as a particularly important component of the country’s infrastructure development.
“In the context of developing the country’s transport sector, the Anaklia Deep Sea Port project is of particular importance”, she said.
The Minister noted that construction works on the project were progressing actively, with dredging operations already underway.
“Dredging works have already begun at the Anaklia Deep Sea Port site. We have made an important decision by changing the port's operating model. This will allow the port to remain under Georgian ownership while also enabling the involvement of a number of our international partners in its operation”, Kvrivishvili said.
She added that the Anaklia port would contribute not only to the development of Georgia’s economy and transport sector but would also play a significant role in advancing the development of the Middle Corridor.
