Economy

Dredging operations have officially commenced at the site of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port, marked by the arrival of the first dredging vessel, Tristao Da Cunha, into the maritime aquatory of the future port.
Following the completion of required legislative procedures, the vessel will begin excavation to construct the breakwater channel.
Under the project plan, the seabed in the Anaklia marine area will be deepened to 17.5 meters, followed by the construction of a 1,380-meter breakwater.
Active maritime construction is being executed by the world-renowned Belgian firm Jan De Nul N.V. - a member of the industry's “Big Four” - in collaboration with Georgian partners.
The Georgian government is developing the Anaklia port utilising the globally established “landlord” model.
This approach enables the state to partner concurrently with multiple international states and companies to optimise cargo attraction and operational efficiency.
In parallel with port infrastructure development, the government is also advancing plans for connecting rail and motorway networks leading to Anaklia.
